Travelling with Kids on a P&O Ferry

There’s nothing quite like going on a family holiday – but we all know stress can appear as an unwelcome fellow passenger when you’re travelling with children. When you start your journey with kids on a P&O ferry, you can forget about limiting your luggage, entertaining infants within the confines of a tiny aeroplane seat, and keeping tantrums at bay in long security queues.

All you have to do is focus on what’s important for your trip – fun, relaxation and plenty of adventure. Here, we explore why ferry travel is the perfect choice for your next family holiday.

1. Take as much luggage as your car can fit

Pack as much as you like on a P&O ferry.

How many times have you had to leave your child’s favourite toy at home when you travel by plane? Or sacrificed your own limited luggage space to pack a cumbersome game your kids simply can’t travel without?

When travelling with kids on a P&O ferry, you can pack as much food, drink, and kitchen sink as your car can carry. We allow roof racks if needed, and caravans and trailers are also permitted – all you have to do is let us know when you book your crossing. Holiday packing is about to get that little bit easier. For an even smoother journey, take a look at our tips for preparing for a ferry crossing.

2. Take advantage of our onboard Kids Club

From face painting to crafts sessions, there are plenty of activities to keep kids busy.

At P&O, we’re all about starting the holiday as soon as you step onboard. During the summer, our Junior Crew Kids Club will meet and entertain our younger passengers (aged 5-11) on selected sailings. Our very own mascot, Pirate Pete, will also be joining in the fun with arts and crafts sessions, face painting, puzzles and games – as well as shows just for little explorers, like Treasure Island and The Little Mermaid.

3. Entertainment for all the family

You’ll find plenty of fun things to do when travelling with kids on a P&O ferry, including colouring-in packs for little artists, and an onboard play area to let off steam. If they’ve been good, you can reward them with sweets, toys and treats in the onboard shop, while our Wi-Fi zone (Hull to Zeebrugge) and cinema (Hull to Rotterdam) will keep the older ones entertained with all of the latest films. Who knows? You might want to join in, too.

4. Food for even the fussiest of eaters
