The Best Dog Friendly Campsites in Europe

What better way to explore the great outdoors than with your dog happily wagging its tail alongside you? Camping with your dog is a terrific way to build shared memories together!

Think about it, your pooch might be a little bored of their usual walkies spot at the park, whereas at a dog friendly campsite, they will be excited by all the new sights and smells.

Some campsites in holiday destinations are super close to a beach – perfect for running at top speed along the coast! Others are more rural, which can be just as fun for your dog – think long walks through awesome forests and meadows laden with beautiful flowers.

On the other hand, some family campsites don’t allow dogs – so if you’re travelling with your kids, it pays off to do your research on suitable sites for your group.

Best Dog Friendly Campsites in Europe

Strandcamping Groede, Holland

This idyllic camping spot in sunny Zeeland, Holland, is perfect for families travelling with their dog. There are dog friendly camping spots available upon request, though you’ll need to keep your pooch on a leash in the public areas.

Strandcamping Groede is situated right next to Groede beach, which, happily enough, is dog friendly, too! This beach offers rental ‘panorama cabins’, where you can store your water sports equipment, towels, and doggie toys all in one place! It’s equipped with a parasol, sofa, beach chairs, and wind-breakers, so you can enjoy the beach whatever the weather.

Camping du Mas Cauvy, France

This camp spot in the south of France is a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of big cities. Dogs are welcome all year round at Camping du Mas Cauvy, which is a short car journey away from the awesome Cevennes mountains and the beaches of Le-Grau-du-Roi.

Visit Nimes City Centre in the Gard to explore ancient Roman monuments and settlements, which still stand proud to this day. Your doggo might not understand the history behind it… but we’re sure they’ll enjoy a lovely walk by the nearby waterworks and shady tree boughs of Quai de la Fontaine, in the old town.

Camping Le Clos du Lac, France

Nestled in the peaceful French Alps, Le Clos du Lac offers mountainous views and lots lush green space for your dog to run around on. You can bring up to 2 dogs to this campsite, all year round – just keep your pooch on a leash in the public areas.

Le Clos du Lac is popular for caravan camping with your dog, with up to 18 spaces for mobile homes. There’s also a communal BBQ area, perfect for grilling up fresh veggies and fish for an al-fresco dinner under the stars.

Don’t forget to visit the nearby river with your dog. Our guess is that they’ll love having a splash about in the cool waters when it gets hot (after all, this is the South of France… prepare yourself for very warm temperatures!)

2 Cuori e 1 Yurta Glamping, Italy

Camp up among the Tuscan olive trees and star-gaze to your heart’s content at this gorgeous, pet-friendly glamping site. Made up of a collection of top-quality yurts (complete with sky-lights and hot tubs), 2 Cuori e 1 Yurta Glamping has everything you need to enjoy a relaxing break with your nearest and dearest.

Did we mention this glamping site is just a half-hour drive away from the beautiful Lake Trasimeno? Take a dip with your beloved doggo on a hot day, but if you visit during the winter, rest assured your yurt will be heated to your liking.

This super family-friendly campsite offers loads for the kids to play with, including go-karts, a treasure hunt, a family swing, and plenty more. There are separate spaces for caravans and tents, and pets on a lead are welcomed.
