Amsterdam in September

Amsterdam has the buzz of a metropolis, with very few big-city drawbacks. And there’s no better time to visit than late September, where you’re rewarded with a pleasant climate, and less crowds. This picturesque city has something for everyone. It’s small enough to explore easily on foot or bike, yet it’s rarely dull. Brussels in September

Brussels in September

Ah, Brussels. As September comes around, end of summer blues are soothed by a new crop of cultural highlights in this ancient city. Milder climes harbour a whole host of gourmet festivities and other outdoor events. While museums prepare for autumn with splendid new exhibitions and activities.

The ‘Brussels Museums Late-Evening Openings’ (Nocturnes) have become a staple event in the Belgian capital. Running every Thursday night until 6 December, museums across the city will keep their doors open until 10pm with special workshops, exhibitions and tours.

Other events in Brussels include the Comic Book Festival (from 14th-16th September), the Bike Brussels Fair (15th-17th) and Brussels Sport Night (22nd).

Paris in September

Easily one of the world’s most beautiful cities, Paris is a place for all seasons. If your travels bring you to the French capital on the third weekend of September, count yourself lucky. Every year during this time, the city holds the Journées du Patrimoine, with monuments, city halls and other private locations opening their doors to the public for a rare glimpse inside. This year, the event will be held from 15-16 of this month. Other events to look out for include the annual Fête des Jardins, where the city’s private gardens open up to the public (22-23 September) and the Festival of the Imagination (26 September – 21 December), a whimsical event celebrating music and art from across the world.
