If you’re hoping to spend your holiday in the Black Forest, look no further than Campsite Kirchzarten. This 5* campsite is located by the Black Forest, just over seven hours from Calais by car, and is the perfect base for trying out all of the great activities that this destination has to offer. Campsite Kirchzarten has 365 tourist spaces for tents, caravans, and motorhomes with both sunny and shady spots to choose from. If you don’t have your own camping accommodation to bring along, there are plenty of options available for rent, including apartments and a holiday room. There’s also a swimming complex next door with five swimming pools which can be accessed by overnight guests of the campsite free of charge, and you’ll find an onsite restaurant and shop for your convenience too. Children will love Campsite Kirchzarten thanks to its playroom, playground, mini disco, and timetable of creative activities, and they can even eat their evening meal with their new friends as part of the campsite’s ‘Dinner for Kids’ initiative.

To help you to explore the Black Forest, you’ll be given a KONUS guest card when you stay at the Campsite Kirchzarten. This card will let you use the public transport in the area free of charge, including buses, trains, and trams. The Black Forest itself boasts amazing activities no matter what time of year you stay, with walking and cycling popular in summer and skiing, snowboarding, and sledding on offer during the colder months. You’ll also find a mini golf course just a few minutes from the campsite which is a hit with children and adults alike!

Nibelungen-Camping am Schwimmbad

Set in the middle of Germany’s picturesque Odenwald mountain range on the outskirts of the city of Fürth, Nibelungen-Camping am Schwimmbad offers an idyllic camping spot with plenty of facilities. This modern campsite can be reached in just six and a half hours from Calais by car and is located in the Bergstrasse-Odenwald Geopark which boasts both hiking and cycling opportunities. In addition to being ideal for those searching for an active camping holiday in Germany, this campsite is the perfect base for discovering some of the area’s castles and palaces too.

Nibelungen-Camping am Schwimmbad has tent, caravan, motorhome, and XXL spaces available, so you’re sure to be able to find the perfect spot for your camping accommodation. The toilet and shower facilities are rated highly by guests, and there’s even the option to hire a private bathroom should you require one. You’ll also have access to a washing machine, dryer, cooking facilities, and a fridge, plus you can rent a picnic bench for al fresco meals too. The campsite has a children’s playground with a sandpit, climbing frame, and other fun equipment which is sure to keep them occupied, and there are facilities for playing football, basketball and other sports too.

Just a couple of minutes from Nibelungen-Camping am Schwimmbad is a heated swimming pool which is open 8am – 8pm from May to September. With both a children’s pool and swimming lanes available, there’s something for everyone! There’s also a waterslide and regular water aerobics sessions, plus lovely sunbathing lawns where you can catch some rays. Nibelungen-Camping am Schwimmbad is in easy reach of a number of restaurants and supermarkets, and the largest model railway in southern Germany is just a few minutes away if you fancy seeing something a bit different!

Campingpark Heidewald

Located in the Münsterland region of Germany, Campingpark Heidewald is the perfect campsite for those who want to immerse themselves in nature. With standard and premium pitches available for motorhomes, caravans, and tents, you’ll also find some interesting options if you’re not travelling with your own camping accommodation. For example, you could choose to spend your holiday in a safari tent, a quirky wooden igloo, or even a sleeping barrel!

There’s lots to do during a stay at Campingpark Heidewald. Thanks to its position in the Feldmark recreation area, cyclists of all abilities will find a route to enjoy and you can rent a bike or eBike if you don’t take your own on the ferry with you. The Feldmarksee recreational lake is just 800m from the campsite and offers the opportunity to try out some water sports or take a swim. If you’d prefer to stay on dry land, choose one of the nearby Nordic park’s three walking routes and take some time to appreciate the natural beauty of the area. Other activities that can be found close to Campingpark Heidewald include fishing, horse riding, and golf – so you’re sure to find something that you’d like to do!

At the campsite itself, you’ll find a welcoming reception area offering hot and cold drinks alongside information about excursions and cycling routes. There’s also a bread delivery service which means that you can get fresh bread and rolls delivered to you in the morning – just order what you’d like the day before! An onsite laundry rooms offers all you need to keep your clothes clean during your stay, and the campsite shop sells the essentials you might need. For additional groceries, head to the supermarket in Sassenberg just 2km away. Children will also love their stay at Campingpark Heidewald, especially the playground, table tennis, and children’s zoo – home to goats rabbits and chickens.
